This part of
my portfolio is about my personal interest in music and also shows
how it has been part of my professional and academic life.
For many years
I have been a jazz pianist and worked professionally as a soloist
and in bands. My area of study up to and including my Master
of Arts degree is in the area of music composition and research,
focussed primarily on jazz-based works. For many years I have taught
and lectured music at high school and University levels.
In the 1980's
I attended workshops organized by US jazz performer Jamie Abersold
and completed jazz performance as a subject at La Trobe University.
In 1993 I attended the International Association of Jazz Educators
conference in San Antonio, Texas.
The area of
music
technology has been a major focus of my music teaching since
the 1980's and I have developed curriculum in multi-track recording
as well as composition and performance using sequencers and computers.
