Master of Arts

It could normally take a person about 5 years to complete a Masters degree by research. That is all the time the University will allow, maybe one year more with extensions. For some reason I managed to take about 9 years! Was it the pregnancy during the first submission? Was it the rewrite that took another 12 months?
This Master of Arts was by research and thesis only. Fifty thousand words or so later....
My thesis topic: "Analytical approaches to jazz polyphony with special reference to the use of pitch-class set theory in the works of Toshiko Akiyoshi and Phil Woods."
