For almost five
years the school and local community tuned into Community Radio,
Plenty Valley fm, 88.6, at 4pm on a Friday to hear 'Voices of Eltham
College'.
The one hour
program was live-to-air every week during school term. As a licensed
presenter at PVfm I was able to gain air time for a student-based
education program. As the producer I coordinated and co-presented
each week with a group of keen DJ's. Students were given the opportunity
to participate and learn about the medium of radio in a real-life,
real-time situation and along the way develop skills in the areas
of announcing, program formation, interviewing, pre-recording segments,
applying music and sound effects etc.
We were serious
radio producers and presenters but had a lot of fun at the same
time! Our program, 'Voices of Eltham College' even won an award,
a 'GOMMIE' for the best educational program on Plent Valley fm for
1996.
