Preamble
This presentation is a product of my research and study for an MA in Educational Technology Leadership through the George Washington University, Washington DC. In my new position at the International School Dhaka as ICT educator for the Secondary School I have been able to implement a unit of work that uses technology as a tool to develop a pedagogically different approach to delivering curriculum, constructing knowledge and contributing as a member of a class while working on an individual project.

Presentation Focus:

  • Student Digital Portfolio development
  • Online learning community
  • Technologies for interaction and publication: weblogs and blogging

Grade 9 students at the International School Dhaka have created digital portfolios using a weblog as a publishing medium and as a process journal for their project development. They have also collaborated in an online learning community to interact beyond the face-to-face teaching environment and complete certain required tasks.
The use of an asynchronous learning network provides anytime, anywhere learning and, in conjunction with developed courses aims at moving the student from an isolated learner to a member of a learning community.
